Thinking about consciousness
Bridges between medicine, biology, neuroscience, psychology and philosophy: consciousness is no longer the exclusive domain of theoretical ideas.... Neuroscience now approaches it as a phenomenon rooted in matter. This book reflects the diversity of studies on consciousness, which cannot be grasped by a single method or confined to a single discipline. Researchers from a variety of backgrounds compare their approaches: cerebral imaging, clinical pictures, developmental and evolutionary dimensions, neural correlates, animal or artificial incarnation, philosophical and epistemological approaches, etc.

Projet EMOTIMAT : publication d'un livret pédagogique à l'attention des enseignant·e·s de maternelle
The EMOTIMAT research project, funded by the Pégase cluster, is being led by Carole Berger (LPNC, USMB), Anne Lafay (LPNC, USMB), Laura Alaria (post-doctoral researcher, USMB) and Edouard Gentaz (FPSE, UNIGE). The EMOTIMAT intervention, co-developed by researchers and teachers, has been shown to be effective in improving basic emotional skills (identifying and naming primary emotions, understanding situations related to primary emotions) in Petite Section and Moyenne Section de Maternelle.
Inclusive language: for the brain, neutral is not neutral
It is now well-established that the use of the masculine gender creates unbalanced mental representations in favour of the masculine gender. But are all forms of inclusive writing equally effective in countering this bias? In a recent study published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology, a team of scientists demonstrated that neutral formulations, with no grammatical gender markers, do not completely eliminate the bias towards the masculine gender, unlike double forms, which mention both the masculine and feminine genders.
Teacher training in Mayotte (Trans 3 project)
From 16 to 20 October, Marie-Line Bosse and Cynthia Boggio, accompanied by Marie-Pierre Jouannaud (Luciole team) and Céline Pobel-Burtin (LaRAC), travelled to Mayotte as part of the Trans3 project.
The aim was to train the CP and CE1 teachers who are taking part this year in the testing of the three TRANS3 educational applications.
This guide focuses on one of the fundamental aspects of early mathematics: the construction of numbers. It is aimed at both teachers and trainers. Its aim is to provide information on the latest research in mathematics didactics, and in particular on the plurality of processes involved in the construction of numbers at nursery school. Karine Mazens contributed to chapter 1, which sets out the state of research in cognitive psychology as applied to the field of early mathematics.
