Frederic Boy is an Assoc. Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Computational Social Science at Swansea University. He is the director of the NAIADES research network, a cross-faculty initiative focusing on AI, arts, digital economy, and society, with over 30 members. He also plays a leading role in the Faculty of Science and Engineering’s Zienkiewicz Institute (>180 members), in developing synergies between social science, humanities, engineering, and AI research.
His recent work centres on collaborations in the computational social science, where he develops:
- Language-agnostic and machine learning architectures for detecting the prodromic signs of global crises (e.g., Middle Eastern instabilities, Ukraine invasion, Capitol riots)
- Real-time, open-source AI-based econometric indices measuring population life satisfaction in Western nations and the Global South.
