Conscience, Mémoire et MétaCognition (CoMMet)
Spike-and-Wave discharges (SWD) are the hallmark of generalized epilepsy and when prolonged, could lead to absence seizure (AS). Alteration of consciousness is the main symptom of AS, but there are arguments that some cognitive functions are spared during absences. We propose to study the persistence of fragments of consciousness during AS, and reciprocally, fragments of AS during full consciousness (so called “blip syndrome”). This will allow us to better understand cognitive phenomena at the boundary between consciousness and unconsciousness.
