RESEARCH PROJECT

PhD thesis in cognitive sciences, supervised by Pr. Monica Baciu (MD, PhD) and Pr. Alexandre Krainik (MD, PhD), funded by Région Rhône-Alpes.

Title : Normal aging effects on lexico-semantic processes - A multidisciplinary Approach -.

Abstract : This PhD thesis aims at studying normal aging effects on lexical production and semantic processes. The study comprises three main parts : First, objectifying lexical production performances within healthy young and older populations, using behavioral study ; Then, identifying cerebral substrates underlying lexical production and semantic association processes within the same populations, using functional MRI ; Finally, studying the structural and hemodynamical changes that may affect the cognitive performances of these populations and/or be potential confounds in fMRI maps’ interpretation. The long-term goal of this multidisciplinary project is to provide a model explaining the effects of cerebral structural, functional and vascular modifications on behavioral performances within the lexico-semantic domain in normal aging.
