PhD thesis Sensorimotor and emotional processes during decision and purchasing behavior

PhD supervision Martial Mermillod (LPNC) & Richard Palluel-Germain (LPNC) Co-directed by Market Vision

Keywords Consumer behavior, Implicit methods, Emotional processes, Decision Making, Social comfort

The majority of studies made using declarative and explicit methods. Verbal statements provide insight into the market of a product and to predict attitudes, emotions and purchasing intention. However, these declarative methods have potential biases. Indeed, it has been demonstrated the existence of a gap between consumer reporting and people’s actual buying behaviors. The overall purpose of this project is to develop innovative quantitative and implicit methods allowing to predict more accurately people’s actual buying behaviors. Firstly, we will develop innovative methods allowing to measure emotions, values and consumer decision making in the choice of a product. We will then experiment these methods during purchasing behavior (in situ).
