Age is a primary social dimension. We behave differently toward people as a function of how old we perceive them to be.
Age perception relies on cues that are correlated with age, such as wrinkles. The aim of this thesis is to study whether facial contrast - luminance and color contrast between internal features and the surrounding skin - is a visual cue that changes with age, and is used by observers in perceiving the age of a face.
